"Attracting Barcelona midfielder Song is illustration of their progression, although they in part have his uncle, and a deal agreed 14 years ago to sign him from Liverpool, to thank too."

From the news thread, wtf?

Loads of my Gooner mates down the pub Saturday can't understand why us. They reckon he could have gone anywhere. They would definitely have him back

Norf, yeah I did but the grass isn't always greener

Re: Alex Song
Got it, Barca wouldn't loan him to any champions league competitors, would they.

Re: Alex Song
Sorry thought you meant left the goon

Far Cough 8:34 Mon Sep 22
Re: Alex Song
Yeah but he wants to play football, so that's why he left

Re: Alex Song
I'd guess there's not many players that when barca come knocking they don't leg it out the door

Cough

I was thinking more if any of them now think he's just sour grapes, or are as genuinely surprised as us that he's come this way.

Re: Alex Song
Why did he leave in the first place?

Norflundon 7:39 Mon Sep 22
Re: Alex Song
All my mates that have goon ST's are gutted they didn't get him

Far Cough 7:36 Mon Sep 22
Re: Alex Song
Yeah, my mate reckons he was mustard

Re: Alex Song
Is anyone willing to own up to knowing any gooners, and have you heard what they think about him coming to us, and not, for example, them?

Re: Alex Song
He's a different level. Best player we've signed for years. I can't believe someone like Arsenal didn't go for him, he would have finished them off.

Re: Alex Song
Of course he will stay, he wants Champions League football.

Ah I love optimism.

Re: Alex Song
Absolute no chance of making this permanent.

Offer him enough dough and like most players he'd probably sign

Re: Alex Song
He's spoken about the new stadium and the boards future plans as being a reason why he came to us, I think he will sign. Also, it seems louyate is absolutely loving London and moreso playing for us so I reckon we'll get at least the first season of the new stadium with him too.

collyrob 6:46 Mon Sep 22
Re: Alex Song
His family wants to live in London. So I don't see why we couldn't sign him permanently.

Re: Alex Song
And the thing is that he's been there and done that. The appeal of going to a big club is hopefully lessened slightly having gone and then moved on.

Who knows.

Re: Alex Song
He just looks like he really has fun out there, just oozes class, give him a good season with us and keep fingers crossed.
